6 Business Use Cases For ChatGPT You Might Not Have Heard Of
You need to understand what you are missing here…
Why you should care: 99% of people only use 1% of ChatGPT’s ability.
What you need to know: Learning new prompts and use cases will open your mind to the possibilities and make you a better prompt engineer.
On with the story
Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M, had the job of creating the world's strongest adhesive.
But through his experiments, instead of a super-strong bond, he stumbled upon something rather unique – microspheres.
These tiny sticky spheres have an unusual property.
They could stick things together, weakly, allowing them to be separated without causing damage.
Silver had failed in his mission, but…
…another 3M scientist, frustrated with notes falling off his choir's music sheets, recognized the potential in Silver's "failed" adhesive.
He needed something that would stick without damaging the pages.
The solution was right in front of him – and so, the Post-it note was born.
The Post-Its story is not unique.
Technological innovation has hundreds of stories like this.
As new technology emerges, its potential uses haven’t been discovered yet.
The same is true with ChatGPT.
In fact, OpenAI’s president, Greg Brockman, wasn't even sure ChatGPT was worth launching.
With that in mind, I'd like to introduce you to 6 unexpected ways to use ChatGPT in business.
Dive in, and perhaps you'll experience your own "Post-it" moment…

#6 Elon’s Creative Problem-Solving Framework
🧠 Use Case Use Elon’s framework for problem-solving.
How to use it:
Paste in prompt 1 and complete your details in the {brackets}
Start answering the questions to find possible solutions.
I want you to help me solve this problem: "{enter full details of the problem}".
You are going to use Elon Musk's first-principles thinking approach, which is a method derived from physics that focuses on breaking down complex problems into their most fundamental truths. Instead of reasoning by analogy, which involves using existing solutions or benchmarks, first-principles thinking allows individuals to innovate and find new solutions by understanding the most basic elements of the problem.
Here's a breakdown of Elon Musk's first-principles problem-solving framework:
Identify and Define the Problem: Clearly define what you are trying to solve. It's essential to be specific and understand the nuances of the issue.
Break Down the Problem into its Fundamental Principles: Instead of relying on conventional wisdom or existing solutions, deconstruct the problem into its most basic elements. Ask yourself: What are the fundamental truths or concepts that apply to this problem?
Analyze and Identify Assumptions: What are you assuming to be true about the problem? Are there any biases or preconceived notions you are bringing to the table? It's vital to recognize these assumptions, as they can cloud your judgment.
Reconstruct the Problem: Once you've broken down the problem and understood the fundamental truths, start reconstructing a solution from the ground up. Think about how you can combine these truths in innovative ways to solve the problem.
Create Hypotheses and Test Them: Based on your reconstructed understanding, develop potential solutions or hypotheses. Then, test them out. This might involve creating prototypes, conducting experiments, or gathering data.
Iterate: First-principles thinking doesn't guarantee a solution on the first try. Use the results from your testing to refine your hypotheses and repeat the process as many times as needed.
Implement and Scale: Once you've identified a viable solution, work on implementing it. If it's successful, think about how you can scale or generalize this solution to other similar problems or situations.
Through an interactive session, ask me questions, one at a time to help me solve my problem using Elon Musk's first-principles problem-solving framework.
Rules:
1. One concise question at a time
2. Feedback when you think there is a better answer, and give me this answer.
3. If I have missed something, point it out to me
4. Use simple language
5. Throughout the interactive session, remember the goal is to solve the problem.
Here’s my chat about being limited in marketing.
#Bonus: Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
🧠 Use Case The prompt lets you create standard operating procedures in 10 minutes.
The people who know most about procedures are also the busiest, often due to fixing errors. So, they don’t get around to creating the standard operating procedures for their team that would stop errors in the first place.
How to use it:
Paste in prompt 1
Start answering the questions
I've got 10 minutes to create a standard operating procedure to give to my team that will help my team avoid the 20% of mistakes that end up taking up 80% of everyone's time due to mistakes and errors.
You job is to ask me questions to find the key problem that arises, then write the standard operating procedure. The output standard operating procedure you create should have the following sections:
SOP title Purpose: Describes the main objective or intent of the SOP. Table of Contents Responsibilities: Lists the roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in the procedure. Identifies who is responsible for carrying out specific tasks or ensuring compliance. Procedure: Detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to execute the procedure. Should be clear and concise, often using bullet points or numbered lists for clarity. Documentation and Records: Details any forms, logs, or software used to record data or results, and how long these records should be retained.
Rules:
1. Ask me short questions one at time
2. Only write the standard operating procedure when I say
3. Use language a 15 year old would understand
4. Ask me a few questions about previous errors that can be used to create procedures that mean they dont happen again. Make sure you get the details of previous errors.
5. Remember you only have 10 minutes to get this right. When you understand, ask me the first question.
