Just follow my process with a little assistance from ChatGPT to get started…

How To Generate Leads on Linkedin Using Ads and Forms

Here’s why LinkedIn Lead Forms are the cheat code for cheap B2B leads…

LinkedIn is THE social network for B2B buyers. However, LinkedIn doesn't want its users to click ads and leave their site as it is bad for LinkedIn’s business.

Since ads with LinkedIn Forms keep users on LinkedIn, the platform offers these ads at a lower cost.

LinkedIn Ads to Lead Forms Example

Looking at the example above, you will see to create this campaign we need:

  • A lead magnet idea

  • Ad copy

  • Form copy

  • Job titles for ad targeting

And, of course, ChatGPT is going to help create all of these…

#1: Create lead magnet ideas

A lead magnet is something you give away in return for an email and contact details.

Brainstorm what courses, checklists, content, videos, worksheets, spreadsheets or other knowledge you already have hidden away that you can give away.

Remember: The more you give away, the more trust you gain.

Copy and paste the prompt into ChatGPT to help you brainstorm:

You are a marketing guru, please help me to create some lead magnet ideas for my business.

My business is: [ENTER YOUR BUSINESS SUMMARY]

My audience is: [ENTER YOUR AUDIENCE SUMMARY]

Ask me some questions to see if I have anything already in my content database that I can repurpose already, like a training course or a checklist.

If I don't have anything, help me find some ideas through brainstorming.

ChatGPT Lead Magnet Ideation Prompt

For example, throughout this post, I am going to create a campaign for a local accountant looking to sign up new clients.

My chat produced the lead magnet idea of a “Tax Deductions Checklist”

Example of a lead magnet

#2: Create the lead magnet name

When you have finalised your lead magnet idea use this prompt in the same chat in #1 to create the lead magnet name:

I am going to use [lead magnet idea]. Now we need to create a compelling name for this lead magnet. Bear in mind my target audience with this naming.

The name needs make it clear to the user exactly what they are getting and give them desire to get it.

Come up with 5 different names for this lead magnet using your advanced knowledge of sales copywriting. Ask me for feedback and make changes by iteration.

ChatGPT Lead Magnet Naming Prompt

That prompt gave me the lead magnet name:
Profit Amplifier: Your SME’s Go-To Tax Deduction Checklist

I could easily mock my lead magnet up in Canva in minutes using one of their templates, alternatively, I could keep it really simple and just mock up a simple Google Doc or Sheet. Both platforms allow you to share documents as a link
(Make a note of the sharing link, you will need it later!)

Here is an example of a lead magnet to give you a starting point (you might remember this from last week’s newsletter)

#3: Create ad copy

Start a new chat and use this ad copy prompt, then answer the questions it gives you.

I want you to help me write an ad using the template below.

Ask me questions so you can fill in the parts in the [brackets].

Rules:
1. Output should use as close to the wording a gave you as possible
2. Output should not exceed 600 characters

Ad template:

When improving your [thing they want], what would you rather do?

A: [Mention an alternative, pointing out a problem that our product doesn't have]?

B: [Mention a second alternative, pointing out a problem that our product doesn't have]?

C: [Your product that allows them to do what they want in a better way]

[lead magnet] includes:

• [Benefit 1]

• [Benefit 2]

• [Feature 1]

• [Feature 2]

• [Feature 3]

[price or value comparison: eg This is exactly the same £250 pp course dozens of top engineering firms have completed].

Ready to [stop this negative thing that comes with solution a], [stop this negative thing that comes with solution b] & [give them thing they want]?

Then get my [lead magnet name] now - [enter urgency statement]!

ChatGPT Ad Copy Prompt

You’ll see this works a treat to create the ad copy which only needs a bit of light editing:

Now use this follow on prompt in the same ad copy chat to create the ad headline:

I want you to create a headline for this ad copy. It is for a Linkedin ad and the headline should be a call to action.

Here is an example format:

Explain What you want them to do: Get your copy of [lead magnet name]

Example headline:
Sign Up For FREE: An Introduction to Marketing Planning For Managing Directors

Rules:

1. Max 200 characters

2. Make it irrestiable
3. Simple words, capital case
4. No emojis

Give me 10 headlines, then tell me which one you like best and why.

ChatGPT Ad Headline Prompt

Which gave me this headline: Start Saving On Taxes: Access Your Free Profit Amplifier Checklist

So that’s the ad copy done, now time to write the lead form copy…

#4: Create the lead form copy

There are 3 parts to the lead form:
1. The deadline
2. Description
3. Form fields

For the headline, we can use the one above, or make some slight changes.

Use this prompt to create the form description:

I want you to create three lines of copy to use as a description in a Linkedin lead form. Use my {ad copy} below as source content for this description.

The description should be of this format:
Benefit 1 and benefit 2

Urgency message

Call to action telling them to complete the form below.

Here’s an example description using the format above:

Take this interactive course in your own time

FREE for the first 50 sign ups only (Normally £250pp)

For immediate access submit your details below:

{ad copy}=[INSERT AD COPY FROM BEFORE HERE]

Rules: 1. Max 60 characters 2. Use simple language

Now create 4 different descriptions and separate them with line spacing.

LinkedIn Form Copy ChatGPT Prompt

Again, here is the chat from my accounting example.

On the lead generation form, the more fields you use, the more expensive the lead. But more fields, for example, adding phone numbers, could produce better results. Use “work email” to get better emails.

#5: Linkedin ad targeting prompt

Targeting by job title is a great way of getting leads from your exact target audience. Here’s how to pull them out using ChatGPT

I want you to give me JOB TITLES to target with Linkedin Ads.
My target market is [AUDIENCE]. I want them to give me their contact details in return for my lead magnet called: [LEAD MAGNET NAME]

I want as many job titles as possible for decision makers in my audience.

Give me 100 job tiles in a table with the most popular first.

LinkedIn Ad Targeting Prompt

Here’s the result for my example:

So now you have all the copy you need. And don’t forget you can also get ChatGPT to write the lead magnet copy for you too!

You just need to create a nice image and upload it all to Linkedin and the leads will start to flow.

Once your leads start flowing in simply reply to them via email with the lead magnet link and you are off 🚀
