🗞️ News

Claude 3 is out and Anthropic is claiming it’s as good as GPT4 for most tasks, and even better at things like Maths. In my copywriting tests, it’s producing written content with simpler language than ChatGPT. [Link]

Klarna has created customer service agents using OpenAI. These AI agents are as effective as 700 full-time human agents and have the same level of customer satisfaction. With the help of these AI agents, customers can now solve their problems in just two minutes, compared to the previous average of 11 minutes. [Link]

If you're curious about the progress of AI-Generated film, check out "Borrowing Time." It's a sci-fi short movie made using Midjourney, RunwayML, and voice cloning AI tools. [Link]

Groq has invented a fast processor specifically for LLM's and it’s way faster than anything else. [Link]

Business Owners: The 4 Levels Of Using ChatGPT For Growth

Why you should care: Shortcut your learning and use ChatGPT for the right things to grow your business.

What you need to know: Don’t waste time trying to get AI/ChatGPT to do things that it can’t. Start with the thing it’s great at: Text transforming and learning assistance.

On with the story…

"But AI can do everything I need to grow, right?"

I get this comment a lot.

Because we all want to believe there is a no effort solution we’re missing out on.

It's got good reasoning - but in the wrong direction.

Imagine you bought a Swiss Army Knife.

You open each tool, trying to work out what it does.

Whilst being careful not to cut yourself on its blades.

But the reality can't be avoided:

You're only going to use 4 of it’s 20 tools.

And only when you need a job done.

Which often happens with AI:

You waste time down AI rabbit holes…

…testing out every ChatGPT prompt and AI tool in the hope that you'll automate everything.

Before you work out what job you’re actually trying to do.

When it would've been much simpler to understand what the main unlocks of ChatGPT are.

I’m going to share my 4 methods for quick wins with ChatGPT in a minute, but first…

Let’s look at what LLM’s like ChatGPT are great at

The sum total of all human knowledge is far greater than any single person’s ability to remember it.

LLMs like ChatGPT help us access this knowledge.

And it’s great at transforming that knowledge into ways we can easily understand.

What does that mean?

Everything is there, we just need to get good at asking it exactly what we want.

Like search on steroids, becoming good at prompting takes time and practice, start with level 1…

Level 1: Language Transformation

Don’t forget, you need GPT4 in ChatGPT Plus to get good results. GPT3.5 isn’t good enough, nor are the other free LLMs like Google Gemini.

(If you’re a business owner and you won’t pay the $20 a month to speed yourself up I don't think I can help you!)

ChatGPT is great at:

  • Improving writing

  • Email formatting

  • Summarising

  • Brainstorming

  • Making transcripts read well

  • Writing from your ideas

ChatGPT doesn't have a memory, so…

Remember: The clearer the instructions, the better the outputs. To understand why see How ChatGPT Works.

So give ChatGPT your context and audience.

The context is who you are, what you do and why you do it.

The audience is who the marketing is for, eg your ideal customer profile. Save your context and audience for copy and pasting into ChatGPT.

If we already have text, (from a transcript for example) we can preload ChatGPT with that text to transform it into a better format. Makes writing easy for everyone.

Level 2: Learning & Productivity

ChatGPT turns you into a learning machine, here’s how:

  • Get ChatGPT to be your teacher

  • Use the web search to save time browsing

  • Tech support (eg Excel)

  • Expert consultations, act like a ‘sales coach’

  • Data analysis: explain your calculation in words

  • Get book suggestions and their summaries

The people that are best at using ChatGPT in this way, are the ones that are great at getting people to help them. They know which question to ask.

Here’s a prompt chain to learn anything - fast

Step 1. Find an expert

I want to learn sales copywriting

Which type of expert would be best at teaching me that?

Give me one expert type

ChatGPT Choose an Expert Prompt

Step 2. Get this expert to create a syllabus

You are a {INSERT EXPERT NAME}

I want to {learn sales copywriting}

I want to learn the basics in as little time as possible.

The 20% of the knowledge that gets me 80% of the understanding.

Come up with a syllabus, outputted in bullet points.

ChatGPT 80:20 Syllabus 80:20 Prompt

Level’s 1 & 2 largest personal productivity boost, now it’s to share…

Level 3: Prompt Sharing With GPTs

Why: It’s like sharing prompts mixed with sharing standard operating procedures.

By using GPTs, people in your team don’t have to remember which prompt to use; they just need to have a list of GPTs with what they do.

If you want to create your own GPT, watch this how to make a GPT video

Once you have created your GPT there are options to share:

  • Keep to yourself

  • Share with your team (ChatGPT teams account required)

  • Share with anyone with the link

  • Share publicly: Your GPT goes in the GPT Store

Now you’ve got a handle on prompting and have created a mini chatbot with GPTs, you can level up to automation…

Level 4: Business Automation

If you find yourself doing the same business process over and over then it is possible to automate it.

You can automate using the ChatGPT API:

  • Email answering using Zapier

  • Customer service chatbots

  • Advanced GPTs

Zapier Automations: Combine automation with AI to automate business process. You can do this without code. Zapier connects to your email and 1000s of other applications. You can bring in text and transform it using the ChatGPT API. An example is a automation that answers your email for you. Or creating an automation that takes your HARO journalist requests from your inbox, find ones that are valid to you and drafts a reply in your inbox ready to do.

Customer service chatbots: Use tools like Botpress to make a chatbot. You connect up your knowledge base and connect it to a Chatbot with the OpenAI API’s.

Advanced GPTs: GPTs with actions help connect your data and functionality. You can easily create them using no-code by linking your GPT to Zapier. For instance, if you run an e-commerce company, you can make a GPT that assists customers in finding the perfect product by connecting your product database and knowledge base.

That’s it folks…

You now know that:

The biggest win is getting more productive using ChatGPT as your guide and teacher.

Automations come second when you have a process that’s taking time and can be automated.
